Easy to care for. A hardy species that is tolerant of a range of water conditions.

Found in water basins throughout South America including Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Brazil.
What is the ideal number to keep together?
Can be kept on their own or in groups.
What water conditions do they require?
Water temperature should be kept between 24-30°c and pH should be between 5.8 – 7.5.
What should you feed them?
Will happily accept sinking pellets, flakes and frozen foods.
How compatible are they with other fish?
Unaggressive, but do not keep with species that are smaller than them.
Can they be bred in captivity?
No reports of breeding within the hobby. Spawns amongst surface vegetation in natural environment.
