Pond Pumps

Pumps for ponds are always a big decision when designing your pond or starting out maintaining an older pond as they are the first part of your filtration system and feed your pond water to your pond UV sterilizer and / or pond filter box, hence it is essential to choose the correct size submersible pump for your pond. Our pond water pump range starts at a 1400 litres per hour model and goes right up to the large pond pumps size of 18000 litres per hour. This means whether you need koi pond pumps or a pond waterfall pump we can supply you the size you will need. Our Fountain pond pumps come with all the necessary heads to create a dramatic feature for any size pond.

To select the correct pump, you will need to know how many Litres of water there are in your pond. You will need to do the following: Width (m) x Depth (m) x Length (m) = x 1000 = Litres. Or use this pond calculator located at the bottom of this page.

Recommended Pump size for a Goldfish Pond
For a this type of Pond it is recommended to be able to filter half of your pond every hour. So if you have a 10000 litre pond you will want to be looking at around a 5000 litre per hour pump at least.

Recommended Pump size for a Koi Pond
If you are planning to keep a large variety of Koi in you pond you will need to be filtering your pond at least every hour. This means if you have a 10000 litre pond you will want to have at least a 10000 litre per hour pump.

Of course these are basic guidelines and all Garden Ponds are different- thats why we love them! If you are planning on having a waterfall which most Koi Ponds do you will need to take this into account when deciding your pump size as well as looking on the max height that the pump can achieve when pushing water up to your pond waterfall.
